The Full Story
Casa Grille Italiano, in Depth
Start with the bread. At Casa Grille Italiano, the fresh-baked Italian loaf lands on your table before you have decided on an entree, and it is one of the signatures that runs across the Casa Restaurants family. Pair it with the Casaburo Salad, the house salad the group is known for, and you already understand the pitch here: a full-service Italian sit-down where the standards are done the way regulars expect them, plate after plate.
Casa Grille sits at 411 E Dupont Rd on Fort Wayne's north side, close to I-69 and the Parkview and Dupont Hospital corridor. If you live or work up in the Dupont area, this is the neighborhood Italian table, not a special-occasion drive across town. The restaurant's own site says this Dupont Road location has been operating since 1996, which makes it a fixture rather than a newcomer.
What Casa Grille Actually Is
This is one of the Fort Wayne locations of Casa Restaurants, a local group with deep roots in the city. The company traces back to 1977, when Jimmy D'Angelo and Tom Casaburo opened their first restaurant on Coldwater Road. The Casaburo Salad on the menu carries that name for a reason, and the shared touches, the tableside bread and the group's familiar staples, are what tie the Dupont Road room to that longer history.
It is a sit-down, order-from-a-server operation built for a range of tables: a weeknight family dinner, a two-person catch-up over pasta, or a lunch that does not feel rushed. The menu covers the full spread of Italian-American cooking, with pastas, pizzas, salads, soups, and sandwiches on offer.
What to Order
The kitchen leans on the classics, and that is the strength. Among the pasta dishes the menu lists linguine tutto mare, lasagna, chicken palermo, and fettuccine carbonara, the kind of lineup that rewards knowing what you like before you sit down. If you are the sort who orders the same thing every time, this is a room that will let you.
Reviewers commonly point to a handful of dishes worth putting on your radar: spaghetti bolognese, the spinach salmon salad, and spaghetti with meatballs. Between the pizzas and the pasta board, there is enough range that a table with a red-sauce traditionalist and a pizza-first kid can both walk out happy. If pizza is what pulls you in, it is worth browsing the wider Fort Wayne pizza scene too, but Casa Grille keeps a pie on the menu for the table that cannot agree.
Who It's For
Come here when you want Italian done straight: bread on the table, a real salad, a plate of pasta you can picture before it arrives. It suits north-side families, a relaxed date, or a bigger group that needs a menu with something for everyone. If you are comparing north-side Italian options, Salvatori's Italian Eatery is another local name worth knowing, but Casa Grille's Dupont Road address makes it the easy call for anyone already near the hospital corridor.
One note for anyone who follows Fort Wayne restaurant news: a separate Casa Restaurants location on Parnell Avenue closed permanently in February 2025. The Dupont Road Casa Grille was not affected by that closing and remains open. If you were worried the north-side room went with it, it did not.
Bring an appetite, plan on the bread, and order the salad that shares the family name. That is the Casa Grille visit in a sentence.
